The Estate
Some places are built. Aethelgard was grown. Discover eight centuries of history carved into the heart of the Wychwood.

1142
The Great Hall
Originally serving as the central gathering place for the ruling family, its timber-framed vaulted ceiling remains fully intact. The heart-stone fireplace, added in the 14th century, is the largest in the county.

1480
The Solarium Corridor
Built during the Tudor period to connect the eastern and western wings, flooded with morning light. Look closely at the carved oak panels—each depicts a different botanical specimen found in the Wychwood.

12th Century
The Undercroft
The oldest remaining stone structure of the estate. Originally used for cold storage and occasionally as a chapel during times of strife. Now, it serves as our atmospheric wine cellar and private dining space.

1620
Lady Eleanor's Walk
A walled terrace overlooking the formal gardens. Named after Eleanor Aethelgard, who personally cultivated the first collection of rare medicinal herbs that now form the basis of our spa rituals.
